Associations & Accreditations

Degrees, distinctions, and professional organizations aren’t what make Megan Dorsey a leader in the field of test preparation and college admissions counseling. But education and experience are essential in this field.

Megan began working in the test preparation field in 1994 and first began advising student on college admission in 1998.  She is a certified teacher and school counselor and has helped thousands of students through the college admissions process.

Megan’s Education

Megan has an undergraduate degree in Art & Art History from Rice University.  Rice does not offer minors, but Megan is six hours short of a second major in Political Science.

 

Megan has a Master’s Degree In Educational Psychology & Counseling from the University of Houston. She is certified as a school counselor by the Texas Education Agency and qualifies to test as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

 

In addition to her professional counseling degree, Megan has a Certificate in College Admissions Counseling from UCLA.

 

 

 Professional Associations

NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors) is an organization or more than 12,000 professionals from around the world dedicated to serving students as they make choices about pursuing postsecondary education.   NACAC is committed to promoting high professional standards that foster ethical and social responsibility in admissions work.

HECA (Higher Education Consultants Association) promotes professional standards in the practice of independent college admission consultingHECA (Higher Education Consultants Association) promotes professional standards in the practice of independent college admission consulting. HECA members must participate in on-going professional development, agree to abide by the Standards of Ethics, and demonstrate experience and education in the field.

Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) is a non-profit educational organization comprised of secondary counselors, college admission counselors, independent educational consultants, and other educational professionals who work with students in the transition from high school to college. The organization provides a variety of professional networking opportunities for members and engages in research pertinent to the organization.
